Santiago Rusiñol Sitges

However, one of the cultural highlights By its relation with Modernism, in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. La Blanca Subur, and especially its Cau Ferrat - the home of the painter and writer Santiago Rusiñol today turned into a museum - were a hundred years ago the meeting point of intellectuals and artists, who turned the population into the spiritual capital of Catalan Modernism . Inside this museum and the Maricel Palace are characteristic exponents of that era and its total art, such as painting, music or collecting. Some of the buildings with modernist elements of Sitges are the Villa Remei, the House Bartomeu Carbonell i Mussons with its "clock tower" on the Cap de la Vila, the monument to the Greco or the House Josep Miravent i Gatell.

Among the museums in Sitges is the aforementioned Cau Ferrat Museum, with works by Rusiñol, Ramón Casas, Zuloaga, Picasso and El Greco.

In addition to these museums, several art galleries are concentrated in the center of the town, and in them can be seen and acquired works of many artistic styles. In short, a wide cultural offer that makes Sitges much more than a beach town.
